What we have done
- Every page can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a skip-to-content link
- Headings follow a logical order, and each page has one main heading
- Every photograph has a text description; decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers
- Background videos are silent, carry no information, and never play for people who ask for reduced motion
- Smooth scrolling and scroll animations switch off when your device is set to reduce motion
- Layouts adapt to phone screens without sideways scrolling
- Frequently asked questions use native expandable elements that work with assistive technology
- Links to official sources say where they lead and open in a new tab, marked with an arrow
Known limitations
- Some smaller labels in monospaced capitals may be harder to read for some people; we are reviewing their contrast
- Official IRS and HMRC pages we link to are outside our control and may not meet the same standard
